That makes total sense. I also believe that he is leaning towards Miami now, with Bosh and Wade already there. I am still hoping that he stays in Cleveland, but he's not going to win enough Championships there. Maybe one or two. The other thing that he's thinking about is life after basketball. He wants to be a global icon. Maybe he wants to own a team. He has a chance to do that in Cleveland (part owner) but he could also do that in Miami, knowing how they treat their employees. Miami is very loyal... Chicago definitely is not. Otherwise, Jordan would still be part of the team. Good point, Dan. We will find out in 12 hours...

My final LBJ prediction: Miami

Not really going out on a limb since ESPN already predicted he's leaning that way.
But here's how I figure it'll be Miami:

If you had a choice to work with your good friends for a company that could be really good, but you'd get paid less money, would you do it? (Miami)

Or would you choose a company that paid you a more but you didn't have your buddies working there nor did you feel completely comfortable with the direction of the company (Cleveland)?

And the 30 mil extra that Cleveland could pay - that would be for a 6th year (as opposed to other teams offering 5) - unless he gets injured or completely falls apart in 5 years, he'll prolly be able to sign a contract for at least... say 15 m.. after his 5 years are up. So isn't he only giving up about 15 mil? So in 6 years, he'll earn..about 115 vs 130m. That's 11%. So if you were making a huge amount of money, would you give up 11% of your salary per year to work with your good friends and probably be able to create the best company around?

As far as legacy... is he as interested in that as say, Kobe is? I'm sure he wants to win championships.. but does he really want to be the best ever? Or is he more interested in being a global icon and having a great life surrounded by all his friends whom he's also made rich and also win championships?

So there you go.. My prediction: LeBron goes to Miami.

Sidenote: I also think "management" had a lot to do with this decision, ie. does anyone really trust the Knicks? And Chicago doesn't have a great reputation for showing players love after they're done.

If he does go to Miami and a big reason is the mgmt / owner there, then I think it's a wake up call to all the owners who think they can run their organization however they want. The only question: Is Paul Allen listening?

I think Wade goes to Chicago.. he can always say he did it for the kids and therefore, no regrets.

Unless LBJ chooses Chicago. Then I think Wade stays in Miami. I don't think Miami can sign both Wade and Lebron. Bosh joins LeBron in Chicago. Amare signs with NY. Wade waits til next year for Carmelo.

Does Amare really have the juice to bring Carmelo and Parker to the Knicks?

The outcome will probably be more random and unpredictable then anyone imagines.
